Studying the impact of green industrial policies on the sustainability of the industrial sector in two groups of developing and developed countries

Abstract
The modern economic and sustainable development literature is increasingly emphasizing the importance of steering innovation toward a transition to a green economy. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the impact of new industrial (green) policies on the sustainable development of the industrial sector in a group of developing and developed countries. Data from the period 2000-2024 were used based on the frequency of annual data for 30 developing and 30 developed countries. In order to examine the relationship between variables, the Dynamic Threshold Panel Analysis method was used. Carbon dioxide emissions from industrial activities are considered as an indicator for sustainable development in the industrial sector, and the impact of green development support policies, including the expansion of renewable energy consumption as a threshold variable, patent protection, research and development (R&D) spending, and the export of high-tech products, is measured on it.The effect of two variables, carbon emission intensity and energy consumption intensity, has also been studied. The results obtained indicate that the threshold value in developing countries, in line with the growth of renewable energy consumption, was 11.2 percent and for developed countries, it was 6 percent. In the estimated model, the effect of the variables of renewable energy consumption, high-tech product exports, research and development costs, and the patent variable on carbon dioxide emissions in the industrial sector was negative, and the effect of the variables of carbon emission intensity and energy consumption intensity on the growth of pollutant and carbon dioxide emissions was positive.
